Dalton elää rajua elämää. Hän on nuori, hyvinpalkattu, suorittanut loppututkinnon filosofiassa New Yorkin yliopistossa. Häntä on ammuttu, puukotettu, potkittu, hakattu, hänellä on ollut yli 30 luunmurtumaa. Hänen autonsa tuhotaan lähes joka ilta. Dalton on "cooler". Shane Tanner (Johnathon Schaech) on Yhdysvaltain huumevirasto DEA:n salainen agentti, joka hallitsee tilanteen kuin tilanteen. Hän on passittanut useita huumediilereitä linnaan mutta ei ole vielä tehnyt sitä yhtä isoa pidätystä. Kun vaarallinen rikollinen alkaa terrorisoida Shanen Nate-sedän baaria Louisianassa, hän suuntaa New Yorkista etelään tarkoituksenaan tasata tilit.
